Holiday let and second home owners in the south of England are most at risk of higher tax bills and restrictions on guests, a report indicates. The seaside hotspot of Tendring in Essex has the highest share of second homes in England, according to analysis by Hamptons. Almost 13% of all properties in the district are second homes, leaving it exposed to an impending crackdown. Cornwall, North Norfolk and Bath and North East Somerset have the next highest percentage of second homes in England, each with a share of around 10%. Second home hotspots have also become increasingly concentrated; more than half of properties purchased are concentrated in 12 local authorities, compared with being spread across 21 areas a decade ago.
