Social housing white paper threatens to name and shame rogue landlords

marcfaubeau

New plans set out in a white paper on social housing will see the Government name and shame landlords with substandard social accommodation. Social media platforms will be used to highlight landlords for breaching the regulator's consumer standards, and tougher sanctions will be introduced for offenders. A residents panel, comprising around 250 tenants from across England, will also be established to advise the Government of problems and potential further reforms to tackle poor landlords. The panel will be supported by a national survey of around 5,000 residents, who will be asked to share their views about their landlords' services during March and April.
