Renters opting to stay put

Tenants are opting to stay put rather than risk moving and face higher rents, research suggests. Outside London, the average monthly rent was a record £1,088 in the first quarter of 2022, marking an 11% annual increase. In London, average asking rents shot up by 14% annually to £2,195 per calendar month, the Rightmove research shows. And 18% of landlords said the average length of tenancies had increased in the past year.
