Landlords stuck with bills from pet-damaged properties The majority of landlords have had to spend hundreds of pounds repairing properties damaged by pets – and they were unable to recoup the cost, research has shown. More than three in four landlords said pets owned by tenants had damaged their properties and more than one in two were left to pick up the bill, according to trade bodies Propertymark and the National Residential Landlords Association. A third of the 537 landlords and letting agents surveyed by Propertymark said the damage cost more than £1,000 to repair. The study comes after the Government announced new rules that grant tenants the right to request pets with landlords unable to refuse without good reason. Daily Telegraph
