Rents have jumped in some of the areas served by the new Elizabeth line, according to data from JLL. Rents towards either end of the line, which runs from Heathrow and Reading in the west, to Abbey Wood and Shenfield in Essex, have risen the most in the past eight years. In 2014 the average monthly rent in Abbey Wood was £1,261, but has since risen 24% to almost £1,600. Slough has recorded the biggest increase, with a 38% rise over the past eight years. Other areas with rental growth of 20% or more since 2018 include: Stratford, Chadwell Heath, Southall and Twyford. Over the same timeframe, the average monthly rent across London as a whole rose by only 12%.
